La maggior parte degli utenti italiani che nel 2017 hanno usato Shazam, l’app di riconoscimento musicale, ha richiesto che l'app individuasse titolo e autore del brano Shape Of You di Ed Sheeran. «In molti modi "Shape Of You" ha definito il 2017», afferma Julian Marshall, Global Head Of Content di Shazam,«ha trascorso quattordici settimane nella parte alta della nostra classifica mondiale dopo la sua uscita a gennaio ed è ancora nella nostra top 40 oggi».
Nella top ten delle canzoni più "shazzamate" in Italia c'è anche il tormentone esivo Despacito, che conquista il podio attestandosi al terzo posto.
